There are moments in motherhood that seem so small in real time, but somehow stay with you long after the day is over. Recently, I had one of those moments.
A sweet friend of mine, Allee Blay Digby, was putting together Earth Day bracelets and little goodies for a class at our children’s school. In the middle of the busyness that we all know so well, she handed me a simple rubber bracelet.
To her, it was just something kind to share.
To me, it became something I now wear every single day.
“Be the change you want to see in the world. Make a difference. Be kind. Be helpful.”
If you’re a mom, you know the pace of life we keep. The mornings that feel like a sprint. The afternoons full of practices, homework, snacks, and “Mom, watch this!” The evenings where you finally sit down and wonder if you did enough, said the right things, showed up the way you hoped to.
And in the middle of all of that, it’s easy to lose sight of the simplest, most meaningful things.
That bracelet came at the perfect time for me. Not because life was off track—but because life was full. Full in the way so many of our lives are. And sometimes, in that fullness, we need a quiet reminder of what truly matters.
Health and wellness, for so many of us, can start to feel like another thing on the list. Drink more water. Get the workout in. Prep the meals. Do it all “right.”
But if we’re honest, wellness as a mother often looks different.
It looks like taking a breath in the car line.
It looks like choosing patience when you’re already stretched thin.
It looks like sitting beside your child at night, even when your to-do list is still waiting.
It looks like kindness—toward others, and toward yourself.
Because every single day, our children are watching us.

They’re watching how we speak to others.
How we respond when things don’t go our way.
How we show kindness—even in the smallest moments.
They’re learning what it means to be a helper.
That’s where this bracelet has stayed with me the most. Not just as a reminder for me, but as something I want my children to see. A quiet, daily example that being kind, being helpful, and making a difference doesn’t have to be grand. It just has to be consistent.
And maybe you feel this too—the desire to raise good humans. To build a life that means something. To create a community where people feel supported and seen.
That, to me, is health and wellness at its core.
Not perfection.
Not having it all together.
But choosing, again and again, to show up with heart.
And it starts in the most familiar places.
In school hallways.
On playgrounds.
In car lines.
Around dinner tables.
So if today feels busy, or overwhelming, or just full—know that you’re not alone in that. And maybe, like me, you just need a small reminder.
Be the change.
Make a difference.
Be kind.
Be helpful.
Not all at once. Not perfectly.
But in the small, everyday moments that matter most.
Because those are the moments our children remember. And the ones that quietly shape the world they will grow up in—and the world we continue to grow in daily.
