Listening for the Good: Wellness, Perspective, and the Quiet Voice That Guides Us

Last week my dear friend Stephanie shared a prompt on her Facebook status that made me pause:

“If God had a group chat with His angels, and they were talking about me, how would that conversation go?”

It’s such a simple question, yet it invites a powerful kind of reflection — not just about who we are, but about how we care for ourselves and others along the way.

True wellness lives in our mindset, our sense of purpose, and the way we move through the world. When we nurture emotional steadiness, gratitude, and compassion, we strengthen not only ourselves but also the families and communities around us. Wellness isn’t only personal — it shapes how we show up for life.

When I imagined that “Heavenly group chat,” I pictured something far more encouraging than critical. I also typed it into ChatGPT and received this:

God:

Tell her this: Every quiet act of kindness, every encouraging word, every time she shows up when it would be easier not to — I see it. None of it is small to Me.

Angel Michael:

She feels misunderstood sometimes.

God:

Remind her: being misunderstood doesn’t mean she’s misplaced. I made her heart tender and her spirit brave for a reason.

Angel Gabriel:

What should we whisper to her tonight?

God:

Tell her she’s held. She’s guided. She’s never been walking alone — not once.

Reading those words, even in imagination, feels like a deep breath for the soul. Because when we believe our small acts matter, we keep showing up. When we remember we aren’t walking alone, we find steadiness. When we trust that kindness and courage have purpose, we live with greater intention.

I’ve come to believe that caring for our mental, emotional, and physical health equips us to serve others more fully. It helps us listen with empathy, respond with patience, and lead with clarity and compassion wherever we’re planted.

Healthy hearts build healthy homes. Healthy homes build strong communities. And strong communities begin with individuals who choose to keep showing up with hope.

That simple question Stephanie shared felt like a gentle invitation. Not to chase perfection, but to live with presence. Not to focus on where we fall short. But to continue taking steady steps toward the life and the impact we hope to have.

So today, I invite you to pause and ask yourself:

If God had a group chat with His angels, and they were talking about me, how would that conversation go?

Then take one small step toward living that answer. Because lasting wellness — and lasting impact — are built through small, faithful choices made day by day. And the quiet belief that those choices matter!
