There are moments in life when you step into something expecting one thing and walk out forever changed. This is exactly what happened the year I joined Leadership Pensacola.
When I applied in 2022, I thought I was signing up to grow as a leader. What I didn’t expect was to gain a community that would shape me in the most beautiful ways. THE MOST Class of 2023 didn’t just challenge me—they wrapped around me, encouraged me, and gave me a sense of belonging I didn’t even realize I’d been searching for. These are people who became family. My Wolfpack! People who cheer with you, sit with you, and walk beside you with such sincerity that you feel braver just by being in the room.
And that is why I didn’t hesitate—not even for a second—to join the Leadership Pensacola Alumni. When something changes you that deeply, you naturally want to give back. You want to be part of the ripple that helped you grow. You want to show up for others the way people showed up for you.
Since graduating, I’ve had the honor of day-chairing both Community Awareness & Advocacy Day and Public Safety Day. These experiences were full, busy, and beautifully meaningful. We saw the heart of Escambia County up close—our nonprofits, our community leaders, our public safety heroes—all working tirelessly to create a safer, stronger place for every one of us. It reminded me why leadership matters and why service is so powerful when it’s done with genuine care.
A huge kudos goes to Davis Wood for organizing and spearheading the day with such intention, clarity, and passion. His leadership made the entire experience seamless and impactful. And to our incredible committee—Joel Richardson, Kurt Larson, Amanda Wood, Jeremy Small, Alyvia Waite, Will Moore, and Larry Hicks—thank you for pouring your heart and talent into every detail. Working alongside each of you was an honor. You made the day truly shine!
But here’s what really stayed with me:
Being part of something bigger than yourself doesn’t just make you a better leader. It makes you a better human. It softens you. Strengthens you. Connects you.
It reminds you that empowering others isn’t something you say—it’s something you live. It’s showing up not for the spotlight, but for the impact. Not for recognition, but for relationship.
Leadership Pensacola taught me that leadership isn’t about titles or roles—it’s about people. It’s about standing in community, choosing purpose, and letting your heart lead just as much as your head.
