This Mother’s Day wasn’t about quiet breakfasts in bed or spa days (though those are always amazing!). Instead, I found myself exactly where I wanted to be—soaking up the sunshine at the Portofino pool, fully present, totally immersed, and surrounded by laughter.
While chasing kids through the water and joining in on their endless pool games, I met the sweetest mom named Claudia, visiting all the way from Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. We clicked instantly. Our kids became fast friends, which meant we got to jump right into the fun—playing, laughing, and bonding while trying to keep up with their energy!
We weren’t watching from the sidelines. We were in it—splashing, cheering, racing, and celebrating all the best parts of being moms. There’s something so comforting about finding that kind of connection. No pressure, no pretending—just two moms doing what we do best, together.
I also have to say a heartfelt thank you to Cindy for her warm and thoughtful invitation to join poolside! Sitting with her and sharing stories about motherhood, life, and everything in between was so special. Her kindness and presence added so much heart to the day—and reminded me how beautiful it is to slow down, open up, and connect.
It reminded me just how important these moments are. The ones that surprise you, fill your cup, and remind you that we’re all in this together. Because truly—it does take a village, and sometimes that village finds you poolside on a sunny Sunday.
