The Wellness Power of Dance

There’s something deeply transformative about stepping out of your comfort zone—especially when it’s under the Pensacola Bay Center lights, in front of a packed audience, and in heels!

I recently had the absolute pleasure of performing in Life’s A Dance Pensacola’s Benefit Dance Showcase—and what a journey it was.

This year, I had the joy and honor of dancing not just with my world U.S. champion husband, Victor Luna, but also with local celebrity Chris Brown and Dancing With The Stars veteran Tristan Mac Manus!

Dancing with incredible partners, all in their own right, was absolutely exhilarating! While I should have been terrified, I knew in the unknown is where the magic of growth happens. Pushing past fear is a muscle just like any other—it takes training, trust, and a whole lot of heart.

Participating in this event wasn’t just about choreography and costume changes—and y’all know I love a great wardrobe change! It was about connection. Movement. Courage. And community.

Health and wellness go far beyond the physical—they include our mental resilience, emotional expression, and the ability to let joy move through us—literally. Dance gives us all of that and more!

There were hours of rehearsals, aching muscles, nervous butterflies, and last-minute tweaks—but there was also laughter, support, and a shared purpose. Together, we raised funds to help support the Escambia County Public School Lunch Program—fueling not just bodies, but futures.

So many people think wellness has to happen in a gym or through strict routines—but sometimes, it happens on a stage, wrapped in sequins and fringe, surrounded by community. It happens when we choose to show up. It happens when we dance.

To everyone who supported Life’s A Dance this year—thank you. Your presence, energy, and generosity made a difference. And to anyone thinking about taking that leap into something new for your health or your heart—this is your sign!

Life is a dance, and it’s so worth showing up for.
