This year’s Red, White, & Blues celebration was more than just a weekend of sunshine, jets, and fun—it was a heartfelt reminder of something I truly believe: your health and happiness are deeply shaped by the people you share your life with.

I had the unique perspective of soaking in the celebration both professionally and personally. As Commissioner Aide for the District Four Escambia County Office under Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger I was afforded a front-row seat to just how much heart and hard work goes into making events like this safe and seamless. I watched our Emergency Management team in action, admired the precision of our civil engineers, and felt such honor in our public works crews, firefighters, and EMS heroes. They’re the quiet strength behind the scenes—keeping everything running smoothly so families like mine can simply enjoy the moment.

And speaking of moments, I got to spend time with so many people who inspire me—Congressman Jimmy Patronis, Representative Michelle Salzman, District 2 House Representative candidate & United States Navy veteran and former Executive Officer of the Blue Angels Jon Fay, and Chairperson Alton Lister, who I sit with on the Contractor Competency Board. Special thanks to my dear friends Danny & Tonya Zimmern for having us as guests! These conversations weren’t about politics—they were about people, community, and the joy of us all coming together.

What made it all feel even more special was running into so many familiar faces—dear friends, coworkers, community leaders, family friends—each one adding to the joy of the weekend. And through it all, my heart was fullest sharing it with my family. We laughed, we relaxed, we soaked up the summer magic and made memories I’ll hold onto forever.

At the end of the day, wellness isn’t just about green smoothies and gym time (though I do love both!)—it’s about connection, laughter, belonging, and love. This weekend was one big, beautiful reminder that who you surround yourself with matters so much more than we sometimes realize. Because life—and wellness—is just better when you share it with the people who lift you up.
