Spring CLEAN-ing Part 2: Body Products & Skincare!

🌿 Spring Cleaning Series Part 2: Glow Up Your Routine with Non-Toxic Skincare & Body Products 🌿

Happy daylight savings! Spring is so close, you can taste it. With longer, brighter days, there’s a natural surge of fresh energy. It’s the perfect time to reset not only your home staples but your body products, too! In part 1, we focused on swapping out chemical-laden household products, and it’s just as important to be aware of what we put on our skin. Our skin is our largest organ, absorbing everything we slather on it. That’s why shifting to non-toxic skincare and body products can make a world of difference on reducing your toxic burden.

✨ Why Go Non-Toxic? ✨ Similar to household products, conventional beauty products often contain chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. These can disrupt hormones, trigger skin irritation, and burden our bodies with unnecessary toxins. There are 1,000’s of potentially harmful chemicals in the beauty industry, with very little regulation – only 11 harmful chemicals are restricted by the FDA — in Europe, they’ve banned closer to 2,000!! Needless to say, there is not much regulation on this side of the pond, so we have to be our own advocates!

🌸 A Few of my Favorite Non-Toxic Skincare Finds 🌸

  • Face Moisturizer: Primally Pure’s Blue Tansy Cream – Soothing, hydrating, and filled with anti-inflammatory goodness. & I have been loving this Beef Tallow & Honey Balm at night, so moisturizing – and so many are raving about the anti-aging benefits of Tallow!
  • Facial Cleanser: I am OBSESSED with True Botanicals Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm. It’s calming for the skin, moisturizing and the smell is like you’re stepping into a spa – hello, lovely nighttime routine.
  • Facial Serums: I’m all about taking care of my skin so that it ages gracefully. I use a Vitamin C Serum every morning and Hylauronic Acid in the PM. Favorite C Serum: Biossance, and Hylauronic: Osea and Dime Beauty. I’m actually on the lookout for a new C serum, since I’m about to run out and Beautycounter (my OG) isn’t back up & running until Summer (!).
  • Deodorant:  –Ok, the natural do’s are tricky.. what I’ve noticed is that if I rotate them every 3 months, that’s the trick. These are the ones I rotate: HUME, Primally Pure & Magsol (it has Magnesium in it!)  —  look for paraben free, baking soda free, and aluminum-free.
  • Body Wash/Soap/Lotion: I typically go to the Farmer’s market here and buy locally made soaps – without any harsh chemicals. But Dr. Bronner’s is a good one and for lotion I like Primally Pure’s Body Butter and Biossance has a great firming and toning cream! (woop)
  • Make-up: I mix and match my make-up brands, but my current faves are Ilia (cream blush and concealer), RMS Beauty, Juice Beauty (tinted moisturizer) & Thrive brow gel is the BEST!
  • Toothpaste: This is a big one, since we use it daily and it’s almost impossible to not swallow some while brushing (yikes), so choose safer here! Go fluoride free — my faves are Hello, Risewell and Boka.
  • Haircare: Like my deo, I also tend to rotate shampoo every few months. Currently liking Innersense, and I really like their “create waves” spray too! I recently used Prose, which is fun because they customize your formula based on YOUR hair and your location (aka humidity galore here in FL). I really like Primally Pure’s Dry Shampoo! They have a brunette and blonde, which is nice.

🎯 Pro Tip: Prioritize products that stay on your skin longer, like lotions and deodorants. Short-contact items, like soap, are lower on the priority list if you’re easing into a non-toxic routine.

Embrace the vibrant energy of Spring by giving your skincare routine a clean, fresh start! Taking small, intentional steps can lead to big changes—not just for your skin but for your overall health and well-being.

If there is something you’re wanting to swap that I haven’t mentioned, please ask. I’m an open book and this list above is only a FEW of the many brands I love 🙂

Stay tuned for Part 3, where we’ll tackle pantry staples and find more peace in your kitchen & meals!
