The Pensacola Aviators Rugby Club will host a free Youth Rugby Camp on today Saturday, February 28, at Ensley Park, offering local boys and girls ages 10 to 18 an introduction to one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.
The non-contact camp runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with registration opening at 10:30 a.m., and will focus on basic rugby skills, teamwork, communication, and confidence-building in a fun, beginner-friendly environment.
Leading the camp are internationally experienced coaches Steve Kenny and Mathieu Lesgourgues. Kenny brings more than 15 years of coaching experience and represented his country at the 2024 Touch Rugby World Cup. Lesgourgues played professionally in France’s Top 14 and Pro D2 leagues and has coached championship-winning teams in the United States.
Participants should wear athletic attire and bring sun protection. Cleats are recommended but not required. Each camper will receive a free T-shirt.
Families are invited to stay after the camp to watch the Pensacola Aviators face the Crescent City Blues at 3:00 p.m. Food will be served prior to kickoff. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs.
The event will take place at Ensley Park, 555 E. Nine Mile Road. The camp is powered by Peak Rugby and supported by Fat Alberts Rugby as part of a shared effort to grow youth rugby in the Pensacola community.
