“I made it.” These were Lulu Gribbin’s first words to her mom when she woke up in the hospital after a shark attack earlier this summer in Rosemary Beach. They show the heart, resilience, and fighting spirit of a courageous 15-year-old girl from Mountain Brook, Alabama.
The entire Gulf Coast and country was rocked when the news and details of this shark attack came to light. We were even more awestruck when we saw the perseverance and willpower of Lulu and her family.
Immediately following the attack, Lulu spent 5 days at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. It was at this hospital where the doctors and nurses performed Lulu’s life-saving surgery. Six months later Lulu was able to walk through the same doors she was life flighted to just a season prior.
On Friday, November 22, Lulu Gribbin visited Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida to thank her life-saving team. Gribbin and the Ascension Sacred Heart care team were all smiles during the emotional reunion.
Each member of the medical team wore purple bow ribbons on their shirts in honor of Gribbin. Full photo album below.
