To celebrate National Arbor Day, the Florida Forest Service is working with the University of Florida IFAS Extension in Santa Rosa County to host a free online seminar and tree giveaway.
In an effort to educate the public and help plant more trees, a webinar will be held April 29, from noon to 1 p.m. and attendees will be able to receive a 3-gallon tree. Participants will be able to choose either a fringe tree (Chionanthus virginicus) or a rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium asheii).
This Arbor Day Tree Planting Course will provide information on planting methodologies and some background on these tree species for your Florida-friendly yard. The trees will be available for pick-up at the UF/IFAS Santa Rosa County Extension – 6263 Dogwood Drive, Milton FL) office after the webinar.
Join us in celebrating National Arbor Day! While several states observe Arbor Day on different dates (Florida’s being the third Friday in January), the national observance of Arbor Day is the last Friday in April.
