Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida will also receive $25,00 from the Foundation for their work to educate and empower children to adopt and maintain healthy habits. The check presentation will take place at the C.A. Weis playground on Tuesday, November 16, at 12:45 pm.

The first of its kind in the Panhandle, C.A. Weis Elementary Community School, is a long-term commitment among Children’s Home Society of Florida, Community Health Northwest Florida, the Escambia County School District, and the University of West Florida, bringing together high-quality academics, health care, counseling support, and more – all where students and families are comfortable: in their own school.

“We are so very grateful for our partnership with The Florida Blue Foundation,” remarked C.A. Weis Principal Dr. Kimberly Thomas. “We all know it takes a village, and through the support and involvement of our generous partners, we are making a tremendous difference in the lives of our Weis families.”

Since implementing the Community Partnership Schools model, Weis has increased access to health care, family education, and after-school activities, while significantly reducing discipline referrals.

C.A. Weis Elementary School is located at 2701 North Q Street in Pensacola.
