Foundation launches to support Escambia County Sheriff’s Office

Local business professionals and community leaders have formed a foundation to honor and support the brave heroes of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office while assisting Sheriff Simmons in his goal of promoting increased community engagement.

The Escambia County Sheriff Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization formed to support the mission and employees of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. It will work to further and foster engagement opportunities while promoting public safety through community outreach.

The Foundation will endeavor to improve the quality of life for every citizen in Escambia County by working to foster positive connections between citizens and law enforcement.“I’m fortunate to be in a position to support this effort. The work the Foundation wishes to accomplish is necessary to help our deputies and our community,” said Escambia County Sheriff Chip. W. Simmons. “The members of the launch team have been working diligently throughout the community for some time, and I’m very excited about the partnership and opportunities we have together.”

With two main areas of focus, ECSO employees and community engagement, the Foundation has already started their first fundraising campaign. They are currently working towards the acquisition of a self-contained mobile video screen system to be used for various events within the community. The hope is to provide this screen to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office so that they can host in-neighborhood events like community movie nights and field days. “The goal is to equip the Sheriff’s Office with additional tools that will assist in bringing Sheriff Simmons’ goal of increased engagement to fruition,” Brian Williams, Foundation President and owner of Kool Companies, explained. “We are not here to replace the tax dollars they receive for regular operations but are simply looking to enhance the Sheriff’s impact via donations from individuals that see the importance of our mission,” Williams noted.

In addition to community engagement projects, the ECSF will also raise funds dedicated to direct employee support during times of crises or emergent need. They hope to provide an appreciation gift to ECSO employees annually as well as host an annual engagement awards ceremony towards the end of the year.
