Sheriff Chip Simmons said in a press conference Thursday that a 30-year old man has been charged in the attempted kidnapping of an 11-year old girl at her bus stop in West Pensacola.
The incident was caught on surveillance video and occurred around 7 a.m. at the bus stop located on Old Corry Field Road and Perdido Street in West Pensacola. The girl fought off her attackers, who was armed with a knife.
The suspects name has not yet been released, but the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office confirms the suspect has a history of past sexual offenses with a child.
“She is my hero,” Sheriff Simmons said. “This animal is off the street…We can once again applaud the efforts and resilience of that 11-year-old girl.”
The man will be charged with attempted kidnapping, aggravated assault with a knife. and simple battery.
