Downtown Milton has been making great strides in the past few years to bring new businesses and restaurants to their community. In 2017, Brew Angels Brewery was opened by Sean McCool in the old post office and a new one will be coming this the fall of this year; opened by Nick Holmes and Dallas Cook, across the street.
The new Beardless Brewhaus will be rustic, industrial and community based,
“I want people to come here have a beer and meet their neighbors,” Holmes said. “From the seating area you’ll be able to see everything going on.”
The new building will have large windows looking into the production floor and indoor and outdoor seating areas. The building currently is under renovation but should be open in time for Oktoberfest.
“We’re going to try to open with eight beers on tap,” Holmes said. “They’re eight of our weird beers, we’re both chemist and like to experiment. We will also be looking into food trucks, we want to be both family and dog friendly as well.”
Brew Angels has been serving Milton since July 4th, 2017 and has gained a following within the community with a little something for everyone.
“We have featured meals on Friday and Saturday nights and a trivia night on Wednesday. The menu is pretty much pub food,” McCool said. “Our beers are a rotating selection, but I try to keep something on tap for everyone.
Looking for Bud Light? You’re not going to find it at Brew Angels but McCool and staff can recommend options based on your tastes from their wide selection of draft and bottled beers including their own recipes.
“We only serve craft beers; my favorite is the Brew Angels Amber,” he said. “I designed it specifically for my pallet.”
McCool started his business out of a love of making beer and a needed change of pace.
”We enjoyed home brewing and I was looking for a career change, there wasn’t anything like this in Milton and it seemed like a good time,” he said. “Our next goal is to set up a bigger brew house on site and we hope to have a second location for production.”
Both breweries are in the heart of downtown Milton and literally across the street from each other. Both were asked what they were looking for when they chose their locations.
“We were looking for a place that had a nice downtown area and Milton fit that perfectly,” Holmes said.
McCool said he was looking for something with character, tall ceilings, an industrial feel, and room to grow.
The owners are on good terms and working together to make Milton a more interesting town.
“We’re trying to make Milton a destination,“ Holmes said.
