Bill Clinton to campaign in Pensacola

Former President Bill Clinton will visit Pensacola this weekend as part of a two-day bus tour through Florida in support of his wife’s presidential campaign.

Clinton’s bus tour will start in Orlando on Friday and make stops in Jacksonville and Panama City before finishing up in Pensacola, Hillary Clinton’s campaign said Wednesday.

“President Clinton will discuss Hillary Clinton’s plans to build an economy that works for all, not just those at the top, and lay out her vision for an America that is stronger together,” the campaign said.

Clinton will visit the E.S. Cobb Community Resource Center, located at 601 East Mallory Street in Pensacola, from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, officials said. Doors for the event will open at 2:45 p.m., and those wishing to attend can RSVP on Hillary Clinton’s campaign website.

Bill Clinton served as the 42nd U.S. president from 1993 to 2001. After she and her husband left the White House, Hillary Rodham Clinton served as a U.S. Senator from New York from 2001 through 2009 and as U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 through 2013. Clinton defeated Vermont senator Bernie Sanders earlier this year for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Bill Clinton’s visit marks Democrats’ highest-profile visit to the Pensacola area during this year’s campaign. Anne Holton, wife of Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, appeared in Pensacola earlier this week. On the Republican side, presidential nominee Donald Trump has held two rallies in Pensacola — one before becoming the nominee and one since — and vice presidential nominee Mike Pence spoke in Pensacola last week.
