Pensacola Symphony opening night set for October 3

The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra invites fans to join them for Opening Night! as they kick off their 90th season on October 3 at the Saenger Theatre.

Peter Rubardt and the PSO welcome Cuban piano virtuoso Jorge Luis Prats to the stage for a festive and romantic ‘Opening Night’. The program will include Richard Strauss’ Don Juan, P.I. Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini, and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2.

Prats’ recent relocation to the U.S. has allowed his career as a concert pianist to flourish again after more than 30 years away from international touring. His artistry on the keyboard is superlative and his performance of Rachmaninoff’s popular Piano Concerto No. 2 is sure to bring fireworks to the stage on ‘Opening Night!’

There will be an open dress rehearsal for this concert beginning at 1:30 pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Palafox entrance of the Saenger Theatre. Starting at 6:30 pm, Dr. Larry Reed will present his “Classical Conversations” for those who are interested in learning more about the music prior to the concert, which will begin at 7:30 pm.

Tickets go on sale September 14th starting at $22 and can be purchased at pensacolasymphony.com or by phone at (850) 435-2533.
