Another weekend, another list of reasons to put the phone down and leave the house.
This one’s got a tall ship you can walk aboard, a demolition derby with a five figure grudge match energy, secondhand kids’ gear sale before the school year ramps up, and fireworks over the bay after a Blue Wahoos game to close it out.

Pointe Grand Pensacola Grand Opening

Pointe Grand Pensacola celebrates its official opening with a ribbon cutting from city officials, a live DJ, local food and sweet treat vendors, and giveaways including a 65 inch TV. The Pensacola Humane Society mobile adoption unit will be on site with adoptable pets. Tickets/RSVP

- Location: Downtown Pensacola along Palafox Street, Zaragoza Street, and surrounding creative spaces
Local galleries open their doors for artist meet and greets, live music, and light refreshments, with stops including Blue Morning Gallery and Quayside Art Gallery. A free trolley connects participating locations. Admission is free.
- Date: Friday, August 7 (rescheduled from last weekend’s rainout)
- Time: Doors at 4:30 PM, show at 6:30 PM
- Location: Bayview Park
The New Cahoots headline this rescheduled outdoor show, with local vendors and food trucks on site.
Back to School Bash Demolition Derby
- Date: Friday, August 7
- Time: Gates open 5:00 PM, racing starts 8:00 PM
- Location: Five Flags Speedway, 7451 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, FL 32526
Outlaws, Pro Trucks, Pure Stocks, Crown Stocks, and Legacy Cars lead into the night’s main event, a demolition derby with a $1,500 prize for the last car running. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6 to 11, and free for 5 and under. Free overnight camping is available, no hookups.
Tall Ship ELISSA Docks at Palafox Pier
- Date: Friday, August 7 – Sunday, August 9
- Time: Free self-guided deck tours Friday 9 AM to noon, Saturday and Sunday 11 AM to 5 PM
- Location: Palafox Pier, Downtown Pensacola
The 1877 square-rigged iron barque, one of only three ships of her kind still actively sailing, makes a rare Pensacola stop on her Sail 250 voyage. Walk the deck and meet the crew for free. A ticketed Salute to Sunset party aboard the ship runs Saturday from 7 to 9 PM.

Billed as the Gulf Coast’s largest kids resale event, open to the public with a surplus of children’s clothes, toys, accessories, and books at second hand prices ahead of back to school. Full schedule at the link above.

- Location: University of West Florida, HLS Building 72, 11000 University Parkway
Over 70 vendors and 200 tables of sports cards and trading card games, plus on-site autograph and memorabilia authentication by JSA. Admission is $5, free for 15 and under.

- Location: The CCB Beer Garden, 3041 E Olive Rd, Pensacola, FL
A giant inflatable water slide, bounce houses, yard games, and live music from the CCB stage, with 30-plus house and specialty brews for the adults. Entry and parking are free. Teachers get their first pint free with a valid school ID.
Blue Wahoos vs. Montgomery Biscuits
- Date: Saturday, August 8 & Sunday, August 9
- Time: Saturday 6:05 PM (gates open earlier), Sunday 4:05 PM
- Location: Blue Wahoos Stadium
Closing weekend of the six-game series against Montgomery at Pensacola’s bayfront ballpark. Stick around Saturday night for fireworks over the water after the game.
Summer Movie Series: Jurassic Park
- Date: Sunday, August 9
- Time: 3:00 PM, with pre-show organ music
- Location: Pensacola Saenger Theatre
