As families prepare for a new school year, Florida House of Representatives Michelle Salzman is once again bringing the community together to help meet an important need.
On Saturday, August 1, Representative Salzman, in partnership with Feeding the Gulf Coast, A Foundation of Hope, Kevin Stephens (ECUA District 5), and dozens of local businesses, churches, nonprofits, and volunteers, will host a Community Food Distribution and Backpack Giveaway at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church.
Beginning at 7:30 a.m. (with vehicles able to line up starting at 6:00 a.m.), local families will receive fresh food and grocery items, along with backpacks filled with school supplies for students, while supplies last.
Year after year, Representative Salzman has made serving families a priority. She brings together organizations and community leaders who share a common goal, ensuring children and parents have the resources they need to succeed. This event is another example of what can happen when a community works together to care for its neighbors.
“Supporting families means meeting both immediate and long-term needs,” said Representative Michelle Salzman. “By partnering with Feeding the Gulf Coast, Kevin Stephens, and our community sponsors, we’re able to provide nutritious food and school supplies that will make a real difference for hundreds of local families.”
Kevin Stephens, ECUA District 5, echoed that spirit of collaboration.
“This event is a great example of what can be accomplished when organizations, businesses, and volunteers come together with a shared purpose. We are proud to help provide resources that strengthen families and support our children as they head back to school.”

Food and backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Families are encouraged to arrive early, as demand is expected to be high and quantities per vehicle will be limited.
