The partnership between ST Engineering and the City of Pensacola continues to create meaningful pathways for the next generation of aviation professionals.
Five graduates from Booker T. Washington High School’s Aviation Maintenance Career Academy were awarded a combined $12,500 through the Pensacola Mayor’s Scholarship, a program sponsored by ST Engineering. The scholarship recipients are Tyson Tang, Vincent Pearson, Brent Nolan, Dylan Law, and Shayleigh Diamond.
Established in 2019, the scholarship is part of the City and ST Engineering’s efforts to strengthen the Northwest Florida aviation workforce. The scholarships were presented at a Washington High senior awards ceremony attended by the City of Pensacola’s Education and Youth Programs Officer Theresa Cserep, ST Engineering and BTWHS Aviation Maintenance Instructor Mark Rabb.
Mayor D.C. Reeves said the program is an important part of the partnership between the company and the community.
“ST Engineering is on track to become one of our largest private-sector employers, and their continued commitment to education, workforce development, and career advancement is a tremendous opportunity for our young people,” he said. “I’m grateful for their investment in our community and in the lives of these students.”
Darryl Seow, Senior Vice President and Head of Airframe Services at ST Engineering, said that the scholarships are a way for the company to give back to the community while supporting students seeking a career in aviation.
“The Pensacola Mayor’s Scholarship is part of a broader commitment ST Engineering has made to the Pensacola area, and we are proud to be able to support these outstanding students in their future educational endeavors. These scholarships are just one of the many ways that we hope to create educational opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow. Congratulations to these outstanding students,” said Seow.
The Mayor’s Scholarship is funded each year by ST Engineering to support graduating seniors planning to pursue a career in aviation. Since its inception in 2019, ST Engineering has donated more than $100,000 in scholarships to local students.
