Pensacola’s “Hometown Idol” moment is officially here. After earning a spot in the Top 3 on American Idol, Keyla Richardson is coming home Wednesday, May 6, for a full-scale community celebration. With the help of Pensacola Mardi Gras, the celebration will be complete with a downtown parade, Second Line procession leading to the waterfront concert at Hunter Amphitheater.
While amphitheater tickets are already gone, there’s still a way to be part of it.
What’s Happening
The City of Pensacola is rolling out a classic “finalist hometown” celebration, the kind typically reserved for the show’s final contenders, meaning national cameras, major media attention, and a chance for the city to show up big.
Mayor D. C. Reeves and city leaders have been coordinating closely with American Idol producers, and the entire event will be filmed for the finale broadcast.
Parade + Second Line (Downtown Pensacola)
The celebration kicks off in the heart of downtown:
- Parade Start: 4:00 p.m. (lineup begins around 3:30 p.m.)
- Route: Cedar Street to South Palafox Street to Plaza De Luna
- Street Closures: Begin at 1:30 p.m.
- What to wear: Black and yellow aka “Keyhive” colors.
Keyla will ride in a convertible alongside her son, with local high school bands, a Second Line band, and a wave of community support behind her.
At Plaza De Luna, she’ll be presented with a Key to the City, followed by a Second Line procession leading the crowd toward Maritime Park and the concert.
The Concert (Hunter Amphitheater + Stadium Overflow)
The homecoming concert takes place just steps away at Hunter Amphitheater, located behind Blue Wahoos Stadium.
- Gates Open: 5:30 p.m.
- Show Starts: 6:30 p.m. (rain or shine)
Important ticket info:
- Amphitheater (standing room) tickets are sold out
- Overflow seating inside Blue Wahoos Stadium is still available
- Concert will be streamed on the videoboard
- No direct view of the stage from the stadium
- Stadium ticket holders cannot access the amphitheater area
Entrance + Navigation (Read Before You Go)

Amphitheater Ticket Holders
- Enter through the designated amphitheater entry near Maritime Park
- You’ll be directed along the waterfront toward Hunter Amphitheater
- Good to know: You can access Blue Wahoos Stadium for restrooms and concessions
Stadium (Overflow) Ticket Holders
- Enter through the main stadium gates at Blue Wahoos Stadium
- You’ll watch the concert via the videoboard inside the stadium
- Important: No access to the amphitheater from inside the stadium
Parking + Flow
- Parking is available in nearby lots, but expect heavy traffic
- Plan to walk in and follow signage + staff direction
- Arrive early, especially with road closures starting mid-day
Quick Tips
- Follow directional arrows and staff on-site, they’ll be guiding foot traffic
- If you want to be closest to the action pre-concert, stay near the Palafox → Maritime Park flow after the parade
- Screenshot the map before you go (service may be spotty with crowds)

Not allowed:
- Chairs, blankets, coolers
- Outside food or drinks
- Bags and pets
- Alcohol during the Second Line
- Throws (no beads or items tossed at any point)

- Coordinated outfits or krewe gear
