Through FPL’s continued support and partnership with local educators, Northwest Florida students are turning hands-on STEM learning into real-world opportunities.
Several students from Navarre and West Florida High Schools have turned this high school experience into future engineering careers, with some now studying at the University of West Florida and continuing to compete in Electrathon, a program that allows students to apply STEM principles through designing and building electric go-karts, then racing them.
Other students are setting themselves on a path for collegiate success. One senior has secured an upcoming internship with an IndyCar team she met at an FPL Electrathon event, and another female Electrathon student was recently accepted to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, where she plans to study mechanical engineering.
Together, these student journeys highlight how FPL’s continued support of Electrathon helps prepare Northwest Florida students for future careers in engineering, motorsports and advanced technology.
To support the next generation of racers, a UWF student will return to their alma mater for the upcoming ‘Shock & Awe Shakedown’ Electrathon race at East Bay K-8 School.
