Pensacola’s community came together today to celebrate a meaningful milestone for Bright Bridge Ministries, the official ribbon-cutting of its newly renovated South Wing at His Place Shelter.
Leaders, donors, and supporters gathered at the facility on West Strong Street for the ceremony, marking the expansion of the shelter’s capacity from 50 to 90 beds. The renovation represents a significant investment in providing safety, stability, and dignity for men in need across the Pensacola area.
The evening began with a Fresh Start Culinary Arts graduation ceremony, recognizing participants who completed the program’s intensive workforce training. The Fresh Start initiative equips residents with job skills, certifications, and hands-on experience to help them transition into sustainable employment.
Following the ceremony, guests moved to the South Wing entrance for the official ribbon-cutting, where speakers highlighted the collaborative effort behind the project and the long-term impact it will have on the community.
“This renovation is about more than adding beds,” said Rev. Ashlee Mosley Brown, Executive Director of Bright Bridge Ministries. “It’s about restoring hope, providing safety, and ensuring that more individuals in our community have access to the support they need to rebuild their lives.”
Attendees were then invited to tour the newly renovated space, offering a firsthand look at the expanded facilities and improved accommodations.
Founded in 2007, Bright Bridge Ministries serves individuals experiencing homelessness and those who are under-resourced in the Pensacola community. Through shelter, meals, and supportive services, the organization assists more than 1,700 individuals each year. In 2025 alone, His Place Shelter provided over 15,000 nights of shelter, with dozens of residents transitioning into stable housing.
The completion of the South Wing marks a continued step forward in addressing growing needs while creating pathways toward long-term independence for those it serves.
