The City of Pensacola is seeing crime decline for the second consecutive year.
Overall crime has dropped 28.6 precent from 2023 to 2025 according to offense report data from the Pensacola Police Department. Over the past two years, violent crime has dropped 25.4 percent; property crime has dropped 29.3 percent.
“As I have said many times, we don’t have anything if we don’t have a safe city,” said Mayor D.C. Reeves. “That is job number one for me and job number one for our police department: To provide a city where we are safe where we sleep and our children are safe where they sleep.”
Reeves credits the culture of the community and technology with helping to fuel the decrease, which has been consistent year-over-year since 2023, and reflects a national trend.
“We do have a culture of citizens who appreciate police officers and value the work that they do,” Reeves said.
“Certainly, the increase in the technology you’re seeing makes it harder to get away with crime. At the end of the day, I believe the story behind these numbers is one of the dedication and professionalism of the members of the Pensacola Police Department.”
Significant drops from 2023-2025 in thefts (down 34.1), grand theft auto (down 38 percent), vehicle burglaries (20 percent) are driving down property crimes.
Over the same two-year period, declines in attempted homicide, (78.5 percent), robberies (52 percent), and nearly 21.8 percent drop in aggravated battery assault, are driving an overall decrease in violent crime.
PPD’s Acting Chief Kristin Brown also cited officer retention efforts that have allowed officers to work proactively versus reactively.
“We are very fortunate to police in the city limits where officers receive the community support as well as city administration support to get the job done,” Brown said.
