Pensacola Mardi Gras Hosts First-Ever Second Line Tuesday: Where Palafox Gets A Groove

Pensacola Mardi Gras is inviting the community to step into the rhythm of the Mardi Gras season with the first-ever Second Line Tuesday on Palafox Street, debuting tomorrow evening outside of Old Hickory Whiskey Bar. Building on the incredible momentum from this past Saturday’s Kick-Off Celebration, where a second line energized downtown and officially launched the 2026 Pensacola Mardi Gras Season presented by the Ice Flyers Foundation.

This week’s Second Line Tuesday will begin gathering outside of Old Hickory Whiskey Bar at 5:00 pm, with the procession stepping off around 5:30 pm. The second line will be led by the New Orleans Ramblers brass band, bringing authentic New Orleans sound and movement to the sidewalks of Palafox Street. The loop will conclude back at Old Hickory Whiskey Bar, where the band will stick around to play brass music for approximately 30 minutes as the crowd naturally disperses to nearby restaurants, bars, and businesses. The experience is expected to last approximately an hour and a half in total.

This inaugural Second Line Tuesday is proudly brought to you by Premium Parking.

Leading the procession alongside the band will be the Krewe of Daisy Dukes, Krewe of Priscus, Krewe of Cheers, and Krewe of Blues, with support and appearances from many additional Krewes from throughout the community. All Krewe Royalty are encouraged to wear their purple sashes and join the procession. Royalty members who wear their sashes will receive the exclusive 2026 Pensacola Mardi Gras Second Line Tuesday pin, available only during Second Line Tuesdays.

Second Line Tuesdays are designed to be easy, flexible, and welcoming. Participants are invited to experience the second line in whatever way works best for them, whether that means starting at the beginning and walking the full loop, joining as the procession passes by, or stepping outside to watch, wave, and enjoy the moment before heading back to dinner, shopping, or daily life. There is no pressure to participate, only fun on Palafox Street on Tuesdays during the Mardi Gras season.

Participants and guests alike are encouraged to bring ceremonial umbrellas, dress festively, and fully embrace the joy of Mardi Gras, helping fill the sidewalks of Palafox Street with color, music, and movement. A limited number of unique PMG handkerchiefs will be distributed by the sponsors each week while supplies last.

Second Line Tuesdays are taking place during the Reimagine Palafox construction project throughout the Mardi Gras season. Each week, members of the Mardi Gras community, including Krewes, musicians, and spectators, are coming together to intentionally show up downtown, bringing energy, foot traffic, and celebration to the Palafox Street sidewalks.

Krewes or groups planning to attend together are encouraged to call ahead and coordinate with their desired restaurant or business to ensure everyone can be accommodated.

Each week, the starting location will be announced every Monday on Pensacola Mardi Gras social media pages. The gathering and start times will remain the same each week.
