Winter may still have the Gulf Coast in its grip, but all eyes are on a certain reticulated giraffe who might signal an early spring—and a Super Bowl winner.
Kenya, the beloved giraffe ambassador at the Gulf Breeze Zoo, will once again take center stage at the third annual Kenya Day, putting a wild twist on Groundhog Day traditions. The event takes place on Monday, February 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the giraffe exhibit and will be streamed live on the Zoo’s Facebook page.
Kenya will make two predictions: whether we can expect six more weeks of winter or an early spring, and the winner of Super Bowl LX, featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, to be played on Sunday, February 8 in San Francisco.
“Guests love Kenya’s big personality and playful energy, and she’s become a real fan favorite,” said Katelyn Peters, Gulf Breeze Zoo Guest Services Manager. “It’s the most fun way to kick off February—plus, she’s got a perfect track record so far!”
Visitors are welcome to watch the predictions in person with paid admission to the Zoo or tune in via livestream. Kenya’s predictions have become a highlight for fans near and far—and a memorable way to raise awareness for giraffe conservation.
As part of Zoofari Parks, the Gulf Breeze Zoo, along with the Alabama Safari Park, Texas Zoofari Park, and Virginia Safari Park, is committed to wildlife conservation through public education, captive breeding programs, habitat preservation, and funding critical field projects through the Zoofari Parks Conservation Grants (ZPCG) program.
