One of Those Days That Stays With You

Some days don’t rush past you—they linger. This was one of those days. Being at Bogeys Golf Suites on University Parkway and getting to be part of something so full of heart was an absolute joy, and the kind of experience that reminds you why community matters so much.

It truly felt like elves had taken over the room, everyone working side by side to make sure 40 families—each with five members—would head into Christmas feeling cared for and supported.

Along with Escambia County District Four Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger, District One House Representative Michelle Salzman, Pensacola Honda, and so many generous friends, partnered with Fearless Communities Inc. to prepare boxes filled with comfort, nourishment, and love.

Every box filled with ham, homemade jambalaya, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, juice, cake pops, cookies, rolls, and cozy touches like hot chocolate bags. There were hygiene kits, Narcan save-a-life kits, blankets, stuffed animals, four free skating tickets, and gift bags for each child. And honestly, it was such a joy to witness—from slicing celery to pouring rice—because even the smallest moments felt meaningful when you knew they were helping a family feel a little lighter this season.

What made the day unforgettable wasn’t just what was given, but how it felt to give it together.

There was laughter, easy conversation, and a shared sense of purpose woven through it all. Everyone left with a full heart and a deep sense of gratitude, reminded that kindness doesn’t have to be grand to be powerful!

Sometimes it looks like a warm meal, a soft blanket, or a child hugging a stuffed animal—and sometimes, it looks like a room full of people choosing to show up for one another.
