This ribbon cutting and gala spoke so near and dear to my heart. With so many service members and veterans in my family—on both sides—including two of my brothers-in-law, moments like these always hit home in a powerful way.
This weekend’s events surrounding the grand opening of the VetCV Foundation Mission Next Center were not just celebrations. They were reminders of purpose, gratitude, and the deep responsibility we share to uplift our heroes.
Attending the ribbon cutting at Pensacola State College’s Milton Campus was truly an honor. Watching community leaders like House Representative Michelle Salzman, VetCV, Niels Andersen, FDVA, and Pensacola State College come together—and standing alongside Escambia County District Four Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger—was inspiring in every sense. And as always, it was a privilege to hear Dr. Edward Meadows, President of Pensacola State College, speak. His steady leadership, sincere heart for students and community, and unwavering support for our veterans always leave a lasting impression.
The Mission Next Center will be a remarkable resource for active-duty members, veterans, and their families as they navigate the next chapters of their lives. Knowing that our heroes now have a place rooted in guidance, support, and opportunity fills my heart with so much appreciation.
Then came the gala. An unforgettable evening at the historic Pensacola Yacht Club we enjoyed the 2025 VetCV Foundation Fundraising Dinner, themed “Stars, Stripes, & Service – Patriotism in Action, Empowering Tomorrow, & Finding Purpose.”
It was more than a dinner—it was a celebration of unity, gratitude, and collective commitment. The proceeds support initiatives like the Mission Next Center, the VetCV Grant Program, and the Charity Patriot Partners, making the night not only beautiful, but deeply meaningful!
We were truly blessed with two extraordinary keynote speakers. Rudy Ruettiger, US Navy veteran and the real-life inspiration behind the film RUDY, encouraged us with his message of unwavering determination and never giving up on your dreams. And CAPT Chandra “Mamasan” Newman, Commanding Officer of NAS Pensacola, reminded us—like she always does—what true leadership, courage, and heart look like. She is a powerhouse of inspiration, and hearing her speak always makes me feel like I can run through a brick wall! We are so incredibly fortunate to have leaders like her in our community.
This weekend reminded me why embracing our community—especially our veteran community—is such an integral part of my own health and wellness journey. Being surrounded by people who serve, support, uplift, and pour into others is a gift. And being able to stand in gratitude alongside them is something I’ll never take for granted.
What an honor it was to witness these events, celebrate these milestones, hear incredible leaders speak, and support the mission of empowering veterans and their families.
