Founded in 2009 by Linton N. Tibbetts, and his grandson and executive chairman, Kyle Hooker, Tibbetts Lumber Co. builds on a legacy in the lumber and building material supply industry that began in 1949 when Mr. Tibbetts purchased Cox Lumber Co. in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Following the acquisition of the D&M Truss Plant, the Tibbetts Lumber team developed construction plans and secured approval for an $8 million capital investment in the property. Construction began in September 2023 and was completed ahead of schedule.

The new Pensacola location, which was fully operational in March 2025, combined with the company’s Door and Millwork facility in Milton, allows Tibbetts Lumber Co. to provide a full range of building materials to professional contractors across the region.

“We are excited to finally enter the Pensacola and Panhandle markets and are committed to earning customer trust as we have done for 75 years,” said Executive Chairman Kyle Hooker.

FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance assisted with worked with Tibbetts early in the process with site location needs.

“The growth of Tibbetts Lumber into Escambia County demonstrates the strength and opportunity of our local market,” said Danita Andrews, Senior Director, Business Retention & Expansion. “This significant investment not only enhances our regional supply chain but also strengthens the partnerships and resources available to builders and contractors throughout Northwest Florida.”
