Balance Aesthetics Celebrates One Year in Business

I am always down to check out new spas in town and my latest spa day took place at Balance Aesthetics. It just so happens, Balance is celebrating their first birthday all month long. Like most women, I am a fan of any and all things self-care, especially if the end result includes a youthful glow. Well, Balance Aesthetics does all of the above, and they do a stand-up job doing it.

The two owners have a long history in the medical field and shared passion for the transformative power of aesthetics. Janie Rushnell, CIDESCO Diplomat Master Aesthetician & Owner, met Dr. Robert Scileppi, Owner, by chance and the rest is history.

Some stories are meant to be, and Janie and Dr. Scileppi’s is no exception. What began as a chance encounter between two strangers blossomed into a business partnership, rooted in shared values, passion, and a little bit of fate.

It all started when Janie’s son found himself in need of urgent care after a mishap while offshore fishing. Dr. Scileppi treated the injury and a conversation sparked between them. Dr. Scileppi soon learned that Janie had successfully built and sold her own med spa back in January 2023.

Janie and Dr. Scileppi met for breakfast, and what started as a casual chat quickly turned into an exciting exchange of stories, ideas, and aspirations. After countless conversations, a spark was ignited. Their shared vision for the future of aesthetics and wellness was undeniable. With Dr. Scileppi already serving clients at Balance for nearly a year and eager to expand, he had found a kindred spirit in Janie.

And so, a partnership was born and Balance Aesthetics grew into the beautiful space that it is today. As with any business, there are highs and lows, but for Janie the highs have outweighed the challenges.

“One of the most memorable highlights since opening was our Holiday Open House. After spending October, November, and half of December tirelessly cleaning, painting, planning, and decorating, that day was the moment everything came to life,” said Janie.

“Being in a space filled with people from our community—laughter echoing through the rooms, every detail perfectly in place down to the glowing candles—was incredible. It felt like Balance had finally found her personality, and it was her time to shine. The entire day was absolutely perfect, from the warm, festive atmosphere to the amazing food and holiday punch. It truly marked the beginning of what we had worked so hard to create.”

For Dr. Scileppi, Balance’s journey to today has also been filled with memorable moments.

“What has surprised me the most is how quickly the business has grown – what I’m not surprised about is how much fun we’ve had along the way because we had a great time even in the beginning when we would come to Balance and paint and clean and plan,” said Dr. Scileppi.

Their team of two has quickly grown to a team of five adding a client concierge and two more aestheticians. As a client, I am amazed with their knowledge, professionalism and overall care they put into their practice. I have received multiple services including Botox and a Diamond Glow Facial and I walked away immediately knowing I was going to return.
