The Local Pulse has the honor of sharing the good news of Pensacola. We get to celebrate the people, the businesses, and the positive impact happening in our community. We recognize that these pillars are essential to making Pensacola a more vibrant place to live, work, and play everyday.
Good news comes from good stories. This week, I had the opportunity to learn more about the why behind one of Pensacola’s long standing non-profits, the Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation. The Foundation has been a driving support for funding new technologies and innovations for all areas of Sacred Heart Hospital for over 40 years.
Rooted in Caring for Others
At its core, Sacred Heart Hospital’s mission is to offer compassionate and personalized care for all.
The Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation is the engine that motivates donors and builds continuous support to help fund innovations like the latest LIT Therapy.
This technology allows for a non-invasive laser procedure targeting brain tissue that causes seizures or tumors in children. LIT Therapy is less invasive, minimizes risk, and allows for quicker healing time than a procedure done with an incision.
It takes a community of the best medical professionals, investing partners, and motivated members of the board to make technologies like LIT Therapy available to Sacred Heart patients.
Cyndi Warren, Ascension Sacred Heart, Board ChairI had the pleasure of meeting with one of the Foundation’s board members, Cyndi Warren, the incoming Chair and finance extraordinaire. Cyndi is entering her third year on the board. She shared her heart behind servanthood and a deep passion for partnering with all of the good work the Sacred Heart Foundation is doing in our community.
“I’m a two on the enneagram, which means I’m a helper. That is how I’m wound. I get a lot of joy from helping others and supporting causes that I believe in.” Cyndi smiled as she spoke. “It’s important for me to be a part of efforts that are transformational and have a big impact on people.”
It was evident when meeting with Cyndi that her joy was found in serving others. Over the course of her career she’s participated on boards and served in many different organizations that have made a notable impact on the Pensacola area and beyond.
Heartfelt Action Leads to Healing

“My sister in law recently had a baby who was delivered early and received critical care from the NICU.
The pregnancy was high risk and to know that she was born there with the very best caregivers and professionals in our area brought a lot of comfort to our family.”
To showcase the consistency in quality care given by Sacred Heart Hospital, Cyndi shared another story of her first cousin’s baby from 20 years ago.
“He was only 2 pounds at birth. My cousin’s wedding band could fit on the baby’s arm up to his elbow. The baby stayed in the NICU for quite a while. Though the time was challenging for our family, we now look back on the memory of how well he was cared for and his life being saved by the team at Sacred Heart.
He is now thriving, ranked high in his class, and has lived a very normal childhood.”
Since joining the Foundation’s board, Cyndi has continued to be impressed with the community-first focus the staff and fellow board members share. “I love working with this team. They are all so wonderful. They all truly live out the mission of Sacred Heart Hospital and care deeply about the work that they do.”
Cyndi’s role as the incoming chair for the Foundation is to continue sharing ways to support projects like the LIT Therapy. “The mission of the Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation and Sacred Heart Hospital is to bring quality care, compassionate service, innovative technology, and to spread the love of Jesus.”
It was evident while talking with Cyndi that her work for the Foundation is one of the many ways she uses her gifts to spread the love of Jesus.
After our conversation, I can say with confidence that the Foundation is in the best possible hands. Great leadership trickles down into every area of an organization.
From the front desk to the frontlines of a life saving procedure, you can rest assured that the entire organization of Ascension Sacred Heart is going to steward the responsibility with compassion and Christ-like care.
