One thing you may have noticed about Lou and I over these past several weeks of sharing adventures with you is that we love to have fun.
With each experience or circumstance we find ourselves in, we are going to seek the fun in it. Fun seeking must run in our gene pool because it seems to come pretty naturally to both of us.
Call me biased, but Lou is my favorite person to have fun with. I know I can count on her to lighten the mood, make a silly expression, or bring the life of the party to any occasion.
This week’s adventure is a little more personal than most of our adventures that we’ve shared so far. This one hits closer to home. Quite literally, it IS about our adventure of finding our new home.
What has been an exhausting process of patience and trusting God’s plan, has turned out to be an answered prayer and reminder of God’s faithfulness.
The story is vulnerable, real, and contains too many details to share here in this series, though I’m sure I’ll share it with you all in one of my Holy Moments columns one day.
Our adventure to find the perfect home has included many smaller adventures that led us to this place. We’d go out for a drive, grab a coffee or a snack and look for a house that called our name. We’d focus our time on building relationships with friends who would keep an out for us when we would get tired of looking.
We found adventure in the “in between”. We prioritize making the most out of every season we are experiencing.
Unlike our previous adventures, we will not be sharing our location or the hours of operation. Though we do love a game night and are excited to welcome our friends and family.
Mak & Lou Rating:
Truth be told, I got to a point where I started doing the house hunting solo. It was getting to be too disappointing when a spot wouldn’t work out or it didn’t meet our needs.
I’d come up with a plan that I’d presented to Lou and felt good about giving her something secure to hold on to.
As with any adventuring, it is wise to have a plan A and a plan B. Anytime we go out on an adventure together, we always discuss what would happen in the case of an emergency.
Adventuring is not for the weak. It takes problem solving and critical thinking. You’ve got to be willing to pivot or take a different route if the one you are on isn’t working.
This led us to a happy new beginning! An adventure that will continue to keep on giving.
Lou carries a high standard for just about everything. Once I found the house, I knew instantly that she would be as excited as she could possibly be.
God gave us a roommate who I knew would be the icing on the cake. I’m here to speak for us both when I say that God has been in every detail of finding this place.
The adventure really began when I told her everything. I shared with her that I’d signed a lease and we would be moving into a house with a new roommate.
She was very surprised at first, and then insisted that we see the place. As we pulled into the neighborhood, I saw the joy beam across her face.
A community pool.
A clean neighborhood.
An adorable townhome.
Soft carpets.
Her own room.
A staircase.
This adventure may very well be one of our best yet. She continues to tell me that this place is a 10 out of 10.
Our hope with what we shared this week is that you will be encouraged to find adventure while you wait. There is a sweetness to life that we miss out on when we are always trying to get ahead of the game.
For those of you stuck in the “in between” or looking for the next thing, we are here to tell you that every moment of this life can be an adventure and you can find fun along every step of the way.
See you next week!
Mak & Lou
