As I sit before the morning dew,
Often wondering if my words will get through.
I ask the Lord in a desperate plea,
“Lord, how do I be who you want me to be?”
“Love me, child.
I’ll feel Him say,
“Love me with all of your heart, mind, and spirit.
I will be with you for all of your days.”
The words of the Lord felt comforting,
They felt easy to hear but challenging to keep.
“With no official training,
How would one know how to love with everything?”
Drenched in uncertainty and shivering.
Exposed to the worlds chaos and calamity,
My soul beginning to acquire a new sensitivity.
“He asked me to love Him, shouldn’t that be easy?”
The world feels so heavy.
His silent voice spoke loudly,
“Do not be afraid, my child.
Have you no faith in me?”
“Ask for protection, I will defend you.
Ask for wisdom, I will offer it to you freely.
Ask for healing, I will restore you.
Ask for forgiveness, I will forgive you.”
The gusts of wind now blew gently,
My inner critic silencing,
The storm inside of me was calming.
I love the Lord and the Lord loves me.

A holy moment with my inner critic, the enemy I know. I believe that critic lives inside of all of us from time to time. When we remember that the Lord loves us unconditionally, may we be encouraged to love him too.
