Raise your hand if you’re over the heat of summer yet?!
Lou and I decided that we’d take things indoors for our adventure this week. As much as we are beach girls, we are also prone to sunburns and like to avoid the traffic that can get hairy on the beach.
What better place to spend an afternoon than at the YMCA pool?
The Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA is located off of Intendencia St. in downtown Pensacola. The facility has been open since 2016 and has added a significant amount of value to residents around the area. Lou and I included!
We’ve been members of the gym for a couple of years and reaped the benefits of the exercise equipment, childcare, aquatic center, pickleball courts, and classes offered. It truly is a one stop shop for wellness for the whole family.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the YMCA offerings for your family, we are here to tell you that it is worth the investment! Despite Lou not being old enough to use the gym equipment, we will often find ourselves in one of the activity rooms in between scheduled classes. We will use the free weights and follow along to accessible videos in their private exercise room.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 5 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: 165 E. Intendencia St.
Membership: Memberships are available here. Be our guest for free!
A Quick Review:
The prep for our adventure was as simple as grabbing our swimsuits, a couple pairs of goggles, and our towels. Check in was a breeze, and we got the go ahead to film our time together (which you can find the reel on our Local Pulse IG page). We stored our belongings in the locker room and set off to the pool.
The Aquatic Center comes with an activity pool, waterslide, lap pool, steam room, and sauna. It’s important to check the schedule before you go to make sure the pools are available for “Open Swim”! Lifeguards are on site and keeping a close eye on everything going on. There was plenty of space for swim lessons to happen and for us to have our fun in the activity pool.
Hours felt like minutes as we swam our little mermaid hearts out. We got our fill of the water activity we needed and bypassed the sunburn.
Mak & Lou Rating:
On a 5 star scale, we’d give our swim adventure a 4.75 out of 5.
Lou’s rating was just shy of 5 stars because they did not turn the water slide on while we were there this time. We have experienced the thrill of the water slide before so we know that the fun exists! The only reason they didn’t turn it on for us this time was because of the swim lessons happening.
Our goal with our adventure this week is to share an accessible way to spend time in the water without having to figure out all the logistics of going out to the beach. Outside of the pool, the YMCA has been a blessing to our family when it comes to expanding our wellness overall. We would love to see you there for gym or pool time!
Stay tuned for our next adventure on the list. We are excited to get back outside, this time, we are going off the beaten path a little bit!
Peace, love, and fun.
