What You Seek You Will Find

”I found myself in the garden today.
The crickets rehearsing their evening play.
Birds communicating with lots to say.
The sun was warm and kissing my face.

An afternoon glow takes all the worry away.
I found a spot to sit and breathe after the day.
Flowers filled the porch, whisking an aroma around me.
Pops of colorful flowers attracting the bees.

A vibrating noise came up from the ground,
Hovering before me, not moving around.
A hummingbird, vibrant in color.
“Hello little one.” I managed to stutter.

Quickly it flew  in the other direction.
My face still in awe from the interaction.
Not much time had passed,
My excitement still relevant.

Another hummingbird!
Hovering, and even more vibrant.
Could this be real?
Did I just see two?

It’s hard not to wonder,
Do you think nature talks to you?
We get too busy to listen.
We forget how to hover and pause.

Our life moves as quick as a hummingbirds does.
We must seek rest as if it was required of us.
What you seek, you will find.
May it be flowers, rest, or holy moment in time.”

This week’s holy moment is inspired by a practice of sitting and listening. I’ve committed myself to this exercise over the last several weeks. It has been amazing and fruitful! Either sunrise or sunset, I aim to sit outside and absorb what’s around me.

I’ll write, reflect, pray, and breathe. God didn’t create us to be going constantly. Your challenge this week is to practice something new. This practice must involve resting or restoring your soul in a way that serves you.

Go rest, and be filled with peace!

“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.”
