Escambia County Parks and Recreation has installed three new playgrounds and opened two new parks so far this year, providing additional play and recreational opportunities for county residents and visitors.
Two new parks opened early this year in District 5, adding a disc golf course, walking trail, and playgrounds to the north end of the county. Paper Park opened in January 2025 and Jennings-Gonzalez Park opened in February 2025.
New playgrounds were also installed at the newly-opened Ferry Pass Community Center, along with Jack Reddix Park and Raymond Riddles Athletic Park. The new playgrounds provide a variety of play features for children of all ages to enjoy, including slides, climbing structures, exercise equipment, interactive games, musical instruments, and more.
New playgrounds have been added at the following locations in 2025:
- Ferry Pass Community Center – 8800 N. 9th Ave.
- Jack Reddix/Falcon/Oakcliff Park – 6601 Oakcliff Road
- Jennings-Gonzalez Park – 1552 Goldenrod Road *New Park*
- Paper Park – 109 Mintz Lane *New Park*
- Raymond Riddles Athletic Park – 1704 N “W” St.
“Our goal at Escambia County Parks and Recreation is to continue improving the quality of life in Escambia County by providing recreational opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages,” Parks and Recreation Director Michael Rhodes said. “With spring and summer upon us, I hope our residents will take the opportunity to get outside and check out these new amenities in Escambia County.”
