Lance Scott brings extensive experience in port operations, logistics, and economic development to his new role as Port Director. With a strong background in maritime industry management, Scott is well-positioned to enhance the port’s operations, expand its economic impact, and strengthen its role as a key asset for Pensacola. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Rear Admiral, having served more than 31 years. He is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation. Scott also holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

“I’m excited to be joining the Port of Pensacola team,” says Scott. “I look forward to working closely with port tenants and city leadership to ensure our port remains a strategic asset that is economically sustainable, environmentally sound and safe, and builds on Mayor Reeves’ vision of bringing new and emerging opportunities to our city.”

Dustin Retherford joins the City of Pensacola as the new Constituent and Legislative Affairs Liaison, serving as a key link between the city, its residents, businesses, and legislative representatives. A retired Army Captain with Airborne and Ranger qualifications, Retherford brings extensive experience in government relations and public service. After his military career, he served as a Veterans Advocate, Field Representative, and congressional caseworker for Rep. Barry Moore of Alabama, championing the needs of veterans and working with community stakeholders to address constituent concerns. His leadership will help ensure Pensacola’s citizens are heard and city policies align with community and legislative priorities.

“I’m incredibly excited to partner with Mayor Reeves and the City of Pensacola to ensure open communication and strong advocacy for the issues that matter most to our community,” says Retherford. “Together, we’ll capitalize on successes and opportunities, build an even brighter future for all, and empower the community to leave a lasting impact for future generations.”

“We are excited to welcome both Lance Scott and Dustin Retherford to these important roles within our city government,” said Mayor D.C. Reeves. “Their expertise and dedication to public service will help drive progress and enhance the city’s ability to serve our residents and stakeholders effectively.”
