The SS United States, currently docked in Mobile, Alabama, will be the centerpiece of exclusive harbor tours before it becomes the world’s largest artificial reef. Blakeley State Park is hosting 11 guided tours starting March 14, offering the public a unique chance to view this historic ship up close.
Tickets will be $36 to $39 for adults and $26 to $29 for kids, depending on date and time of your tour.

- March 14: 10AM and 12:30PM
- March 17: 1:30PM
- March 27 + 28: 10AM
- March 29: 3:30PM
- March 30: 10:00AM, 12:30PM and 3PM
- March 31: 1PM
- April 6: 10AM and 12:30PM,
- April 12: 12:30PM
- April 13: 10AM and 12:30PM
- May 10: 10AM and 1PM
These two-hour tours will navigate Mobile’s harbor and feature the 1952-built liner. Along the way, you will get a unique chance to get a close view of the SS United States, which is considered the fastest ocean liner to ever cross the Atlantic and the largest passenger ship ever built entirely in this country.
As part of its final preparations, the ship will undergo cleaning and environmental safety measures before being sunk off the Gulf Coast of Florida. Those preparations include ensuring the vessel will not harm sea life and will lay to rest upright. The SS United States will continue to hold world records as its final use will serve as the world’s largest artificial reef off the coast of Destin-Fort Walton.
