The Pensacola Interstate Fair, Inc. is excited to announce that applications for the 2025-2026 John E. Frenkel, Sr. Educational Grant are now open, with a submission deadline of April 11, 2025. Committed to supporting local students in their pursuit of higher education, the Fair’s Selection Committee has allocated $30,000 in scholarship funds to assist 25 students from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
Since the program’s inception, the Pensacola Interstate Fair has awarded over $1.3 million in educational grants to more than 1,370 students. This initiative underscores the Fair’s dedication to investing in the future of young scholars in our community.
“This is an incredible opportunity for local high school seniors, and the best part is how simple it is to apply,” said Jamie McDonald, General Manager of the Pensacola Interstate Fair. “If you’ve participated in a Fair event or volunteered with us, you’re already eligible! We want to see as many students as possible take advantage of this grant and put it toward their future.”

A Legacy of Educational Support
The Pensacola Interstate Fair has long supported education through unrestricted funding to local institutions, including Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida. In 1983-84, the Fair launched a special grants program to reward students actively involved in 4-H, FFA, and Future Homemakers of America, recognizing their contributions to the Fair’s success.
In 1984, in celebration of the Fair’s 50th anniversary, the Board of Directors significantly expanded the program, increasing funding and broadening eligibility. The scholarship was renamed in honor of John E. Frenkel, Sr., the Fair’s founder, former General Manager, and Chairman of the Board, whose lifelong dedication to education and the community continues to inspire generations.
