When’s the last time you found yourself in a predicament?
A diagnosis?
A failed relationship?
When’s the last time you felt like you were falling?
Your family caught a virus, and the car keeps stalling.
The expenses are piling up even after you’ve budgeted all of your dimes.
Your kids are growing up faster than you can keep up with the time.
The doctors cleared you and promised you a fighting chance.
A child deemed healthy gets caught off guard by an unexpected circumstance.
The friend you know that their house burned down.
A person you thought “was doing fine” is being laid to rest in the ground.
The quiet sign on the side of the road indicates desperation and a need for food.
The woman at the well is ashamed of her life, wondering, “What did I do?”
I’m guessing you to have fallen flat on your face when you least expected it, right?
Here’s a newsflash for those of you who didn’t know: there is a darkness trying to steal our light.
By way of pain, lies, deceit, and greed – this darkness is an enemy.
This enemy wants to have its way and will lie and steal and cheat while it plays.
If life were measured by dark and light, there is hope in knowing that no darkness can exist when the light is bright.
What does the light inside of you look like?
Are you illuminated despite the darkness in your life?
Do you seek out the end of the tunnel?
Or have you made a bed to rest in, exhausted from the battle?
There is a holy moment when we receive our fight.
A moment where we are desperate enough to finally accept Jesus’s healing light.
It comes in the form of a helping hand.
A miracle.
A fighting chance.
A good report after a line of loss.
The job you needed with an amazing boss.
We often limit the power of what Jesus can do.
He is capable, willing, and full of what it takes to help fight these battles with you.
Jesus wants us to have faith.
Despite the darkness we face, He encourages us that He is the way.
He is the way through the sickness and the pain.
Jesus is the resilience and determination we need when we can’t see what’s coming.
This battle we are up against is between darkness and light.
It’s a lifetime commitment that many people try to block from their sight.
Like a draft that we didn’t sign up for, we have all been called to fight in this war.
The good news that calms me and brings me great peace is that Jesus is my leader, my Commander in Chief.
As soon as desperation deeply settles in, it is at this time where our walk with Jesus can truly begin.
Like a child taking its first steps, we are brought back to the basics of walking again.
The playing field of those who believe is equal and accessible to every type of need.
As we learn to walk in the light, we simultaneously regain our fight.
It’s a mystery that we will never understand, one that’s easier to accept than deny again and again.
Cast all your doubts, your past experiences, and assumptions away.
I challenge you to be open to an increase in your faith.
These battles we face inwardly and out, are not something that we have to live discouraged about.
The healing heart of Jesus acts as a light for your path, an answered prayer in desperation, or a message of “help on the way” when you are too tired to ask.
As I mentioned last week in my post about the little things, it’s often the smallest of moments that can change everything.
My hope is that in your darkness this week, you are able to notice any light that you see.
Take rest in knowing you are not alone in your fight, and allow the healing light of Jesus to shine bright in your life!
