Lauren Merritt is a Pensacola probate and guardianship attorney licensed to practice in the
Florida and Alabama state courts, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and several of the U.S. District Courts. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of West Florida, and her juris doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
Lauren A. Merritt, P.A. celebrated five years in business on November 19, 2024 and the team is excited to kick off 2025 in a newly owned and renovated office space in downtown Pensacola, located at 105 S. De Villiers Street.
Through her probate and guardianship law practice, Lauren supports families who have lost a loved one and need a guide through the intricate Florida probate process. Lauren also specializes in guardian advocacy cases for adults with developmental disabilities and minor guardianship cases.
Probate is personal for Lauren. In 2017, her mom died at the age of 56 in a tragic drowning accident while on vacation with Lauren’s dad. At the time, Lauren was practicing in a different area of law.
“I remember being on the other side of the desk,” Lauren says. “It was the worst time of my life. Today, I love that I get to come to work and support people who are trudging through some of the worst days of their lives too. My personal loss has uniquely qualified me to better serve our clients from a true place of compassion and empathy. And I love that we have the privilege of serving clients in a beautiful new location that we get to call our own.”
Lauren serves on the board for Valerie’s House Pensacola, a local non-profit providing peer-based grief support services for children and their caregivers. She also proudly supports Arc Gateway, The Pearl Nelson Center, and the Miracle League of Santa Rosa County.
