Local author, Christine Kapanga, debuts her children’s book, Conner’s Adventure: Finding Friends at the Zoo.
Conner’s Adventure: Finding Friends at the Zoo follows a boy named Conner on his zoo adventure as he embarks on a quest to feed his animal friends! Along the way, he encounters unexpected obstacles that prevent him from feeding some of the animals. Through these challenges, Conner learns valuable lessons about resilience and patience. The book comes to life with beautiful illustrations and an interactive element: readers can play a guessing game to match animals with the food they love to eat!
Christine Kapanga was inspired to write by her two adventurous 3- and 4-year-old boys, co-authors Callan and Alistair Kapanga. The inspiration for the story stemmed from their many visits to Gulf Breeze Zoo. The #1 highlight for Callan and Alistair’s trips to the zoo is interacting with the animals and feeding them.
“Yes, our book is fun, interactive, and beautifully illustrated. However, as a parent, my priority was to incorporate teachable moments,” said Christine Kapanga. “The main character, Conner, isn’t able to get what he wants at first. The book teaches readers that it’s OK to keep trying and that you can still have a good day even if you don’t always get what you want.”

About the Author:
Christine Kapanga is a children’s book author who was inspired to write by her two adventurous toddler sons, co-authors Callan and Alistair Kapanga. Christine believes in the importance of teaching children early on that their imaginative creations can be brought to life on paper. This
allows others to share in the joy of their creations. When they’re not creating stories, the Kapanga family can be found on the beaches of Florida, traveling to different parts of the world, and, of course, visiting the zoo!
