The Florida Blue team assisted in revitalizing Bellview Middle School’s butterfly garden during United Way of West Florida’s Day of Caring.And recently, Florida Blue employees partnered with United Way of West Florida for the annual Day of Caring. Their team visited Bellview Middle School, where they rolled up their sleeves to revitalize an overgrown butterfly garden. This project transformed the space into a serene retreat for teachers and students to relax and recharge. Cassi McGee, Escambia County’s Teacher of the Year, had the opportunity to take flight in a fully restored 1940s Stearman plane thanks to a collaboration with Escambia County Public Schools superintendent Keith Leonard and Florida Blue.Recently, in collaboration with Escambia County Public Schools superintendent Keith Leonard, Florida Blue offered Cassi McGee, Escambia County’s Teacher of the Year, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly in a fully restored 1940s Stearman plane.The open-cockpit aircraft, a piece of World War II history, flew alongside three other planes in formation along the scenic coastline.
Mrs. McGee and her family also attended the Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow, where the planes performed.
“It was our honor to share this unique opportunity with Mrs. McGee as a small token of our appreciation for all she does for her fourth-grade students,” shared Ashley Saba, Florida Blue’s Market Development Manager.
