It is once again the time of year to bring down that dusty old tree up in the attic, untangle that big bundle of lights in the garage, and put on that fuzzy, ugly sweater hidden in the back of the closet because your favorite Christmas tradition is right around the corner- it’s the Elf Parade!
The Elf Parade rings in the Christmas season for it’s 13th year thanks to our new sponsors, Edward and Judy Galbavy. Santa and his many friends return with the same holiday magic that he ushers in every year, and this time he has come bearing gifts in the form of prizes! A $500 prize will be awarded to the participant with the “most Christmas cheer” and $100 prizes will be awarded for “the ugliest sweater”, “best decorated wagon”, “most festive stroller”, and “best elf years”. As always this is a community event and no entry fee will be required to participate.
If you wish to participate there are a few rules to go over to ensure you stay on the nice list. All participants will need to arrive at 15 W Government street by 12:30 p.m for lineup, and to be sorted into their different parade “units”. Contest judging will begin shortly after at 1:25 p.m with prizes issued accordingly. In the spirit of “Charlie Brown’s Christmas”, participants are encouraged to use their imaginations to create festive “floats” but motorized vehicles and appliances are strictly prohibited. Most importantly, this is a kid friendly and family orientated event so inappropriate behavior of any kind will result in immediate placement on the naughty list. Thousands of children join us every year to celebrate friend’s, family, and the city we love in what can only be described as the best holiday parade south of the North Pole.
