Ding, Ding, Ding… Round 4!
This week I’m excited to introduce you to another returning cook team, Seville Rotary Club.
This returning team is part of an incredible organization that is “all about serving – one another, our community and our larger world. We want to help others with the talents and gifts we have.”
We will always get behind that!
In fact, the Pensacola Eggfest Team, aka BBQ Gangsters, are competing in the 12th Annual Seville Rotary Steak Cookoff on Friday, October 11th. This annual event benefits 5 local charities and tickets for tasting the most incredible steak along the Gulf Coast are still available. Check out their Facebook event for more details.
What you may not know about Seville Rotary Club…
Their secret ingredient: “We will have a proprietary blend of lump hardwood charcoal and an exotic hardwood charcoal to impart a signature flavor.”
If they could only cook with one ingredient: “If I (Aeiko) could only cook with one sauce, it would be my homemade Chimichurri that adds herbaceous heat to so many grilled proteins.”
The most unexpected dish you’ve cooked on the Big Green Egg: “The most unexpected dish was when a friend asked for a Grilled Margherita Pizza.”
Their best BBQ fail or mishap: “The worst failure was completely unintended beef jerky from a once luscious tenderloin.”
If Seville Rotary Club could have one famous person on their cook team: “Big Moe, of course!”
The Smack Talk: “The only team we want to beat is ourselves. Every year, we try to bring a more flavorful, creative offering. And, the ultimate winner is our local non-profits!”
The competition is heating up and the excitement is growing but it’s not too late to grab your BBQ buddies and cook up your own tried and true recipes.
Pensacola Eggfest will take place at Noon (or earlier if you snag a VIP ticket), Sunday November 10th, 2024, at Hadji Temple, 800 W 9 Mile Rd, Pensacola, FL 32534 . The event hosts BBQ teams and backyard cooks from all over the United States who share two things: a love of cooking and the joy of giving back to their communities. Since 2013, over $780,000 has been donated to local charities from this little BBQ party.
