CASTING CROWNS: THE AWAKENING TOUR Saturday, October 5 at 7 p.m. at the Pensacola Bay Center. Casting Crowns is a contemporary Christian and Christian rock band. The album’s third single, “Voice of Truth“, spent a record-breaking fourteen consecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in 2003. Lifesong followed in 2005, debuting at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album had three singles: “Lifesong”, “Praise You in this Storm”, and “Does Anybody Hear Her?”. “Lifesong” spent nine weeks in the top spot, with “Praise You in This Storm” remaining at No. 1 for seven weeks. OPENING NIGHT AT THE PENSACOLA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. Under the baton of Maestro Peter Rubardt, the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra’s 99th season commences with a pairing for star-crossed lovers — Sergei Prokofiev’s Suite from Romeo and Juliet and Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. The two hours’ traffic of our stage also features the unforgettable melodies of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto, a rapturous and powerful musical triumph, featuring soloist Joyce Yang.
