Members of the Friends of the West Florida Public Library held their Annual Meeting on Sept. 7, 2024, in the Bellview Branch to wrap up the 50th year of the Friends. A donation was presented to Todd Humble, West Florida Public Library Director, for $50,000 to help pay for special programs, to help furnish the library being developed in Brownsville, and to order equipment such as additional 3D printers for the library’s STEM program.
“We have had a very successful year thanks to the support of our members, volunteers, our local media and, of course, the many book lovers who visit our quarterly book sales as well as shop in our bookstores,” said Friends’ President Linda Williams. “We believe in the importance of literacy and owning books, and we enjoy watching as shoppers of all ages discover books they want to add to their own home libraries or rediscover old favorites.”
The Fall Big Book Sale will be held the end of this month in the Downtown Pensacola Library at 239 N. Spring St., Pensacola, FL 32502. The schedule will be:

The members voted in the new Board for 2025. The leadership team will be: Linda Williams, Board President and Bok Sales Committee Chair; Kathy McCartan, Board Vice President and Membership/Volunteer Committee Chair; Elisabeth Buswell, Board Treasurer; Sandra Reed, Board Secretary; Donna Henderson, Board Member and Downtown Bookstore Manager; and Kim Stefansson, Board Member and Public Relations Committee Chair.
The Friends’ Annual Meeting ended with members touring the Bellview Branch with Humble as their tour guide. They were impressed with the variety of books, the number of computers available and the bright colors featured in the furniture, wall colors and art. The Bellview Branch is located at 6425 Mobile Hwy, Pensacola, FL, 32526. All West Florida Library branches are open: Monday – Friday 10:00AM – 7:00PM and Saturdays 10:00AM – 4:00PM.
