There is one longstanding summer tradition that we have probably all participated in at some point in our lives — a lemonade stand. Maybe you had one growing up, maybe you helped your children with one or, at the very least, you have stopped on a hot summer day for a Dixie cup filled with a tangy sweet treat.
For pocket change, you get a cup of lemonade and the satisfaction of having contributed to a kid’s camp fund or candy money. But in Pensacola, two local 9-year-olds held a lemonade stand that was for something with a much bigger impact: Self-care packages for the young girls at Studer Family Children Hospital.
Caroline Ley and Sabel Lauter, two local fourth graders, turned their love for great skincare into a heartwarming initiative called Pamper Packages for girls receiving treatment at Studer Children’s Hospital. Earlier this summer the girls hosted a lemonade stand and raised $200 and knew exactly what they wanted to do with the money.
Recognizing the power of feeling good through self-care, the girls, along with their supportive moms, reached out to well-known skincare brands Bubble, Petite n Pretty, and Evereden, requesting product donations. These brands generously contributed, enabling Caroline and Sabel to assemble and deliver thoughtful care packages filled with high-quality skincare products to the young patients.
“Skin care is basically our passion. We love doing it and makes us happy,” said Ley and Lauter. “We are hoping that we make the kids in the hospital happy. We like doing self-care so we just thought that it would make the kids in the hospital happy too and hopefully they enjoy it.”
Last Friday the pair delivered their care packages to Studer Children’s Hospital with little cards attached that read:

This project was more than just an expression of their preteen fascination with skincare; it was a meaningful way to spread love and positivity within their community. By providing these pamper packages, Caroline and Sabel aimed to uplift the spirits of the patients, helping them feel cared for and special during their hospital stay. Their initiative not only brought joy to the recipients but also showcased how young individuals can harness their passions to make a significant impact, fostering a sense of community and compassion.
“It feels really good knowing we raised money for the kids in the hospital,” said Sabel and Caroline. “It feels like I’m giving and it just makes me happy when I do that! We like making other people happy and spreading love to other people.”

“I really am proud! Seeing how excited and happy they are about giving it away,” said Sabel’s mom, Jane Lauter. “And then they said they felt proud to make sure other little girls know how much people care about them in the community. I gotta keep them going with these giving hearts!”
We couldn’t agree more and we are excited to see what the future holds for these young ladies. We won’t be getting their secret lemonade recipe anytime soon, but, by the sounds of it we might be seeing another lemonade stand! When asked about their lemonade recipe, the girls giggled and said:
”Well that’s a secret, you’re going to have to come try it yourself!”
