Local artist Joe Hobbs and his team are firing up the art scene with handblown glass and new innovative techniques. Joe’s most recent body of work includes his illustrations, transferring high-fire enamel decals onto handblown glass vessels. This new work captures life experiences through hand-drawn illustrations, fusing the imagery onto hand-blown, hot-sculpted glass.
Additional artwork to note includes the functional Garden Glass Series, Olive Oil Bottles, and Traditional Seasonal Decor. All of this can be found at the 1060 Gallery, located within the First City Art Center. Joe’s studio hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10-4 PM.
You can find Joe Hobbs Glass set up at the local Palafox Market and on the road around the country, participating in various Craft & Art Festivals. During production time in Pensacola, visitors are welcome to check out the gallery and hot shop at the First City Art Center.
