DISNEY’S DESCENDANTS Friday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Pensacola Little Theatre. In Disney’s Descendants, the offspring of some of Disney’s most notorious villains are invited to attend Auradon Prep, a school for the children of heroes and royalty. Mal, the daughter of Maleficent, leads a group of misfit friends – Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen; Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; and Jay, son of Jafar – as they navigate fitting in and discovering their identities. However, when Mal realizes that being good isn’t as easy as it seems, she must decide where her loyalties lie and whether to follow in her mother’s wicked footsteps or forge her own path. PALAFOX MARKET IS GOING WILD on Saturday, July 20 at 9 a.m.
Our newest market location will be invaded by snakes and bearded dragons and giant lizards, oh my! The July 20th event at Plaza Ferdinand is quite tame, featuring a kid-friendly reptile petting zoo from Reno’s Reptiles starring a giant tortoise, baby tortoises, skinks, an 8 ft. long snake, small baby snakes and a skink, along with a variety of charming and photogenic lizards.
The free 9 am-2 pm event celebrates national “Wild About Wildlife Month,” and the public is invited. In addition to the petting zoo, a face-painting booth and scavenger hunt will round out the fun, and the ECUA’s Quench Buggy will be on hand distributing freshly chilled water and information on recycling, composting, and more. Palafox Market will also feature its weekly menu of farm-fresh produce, plants, flowers, baked goods, hand-crafted works of art, sculpture, fresh tea and coffee, delicious food and spices, hand-blown glass, ceramics, and much more.

BOYS LIKE GIRLS Sunday, July 21 at 7 p.m. at Vinyl Music Hall. If it’s true what they say—that there’s something in the dirty water of Boston’s Charles River—then Boys Like Girls drank up. Little else could explain the band’s meteoric rise after forming as teenagers in 2004. In the modern age, a story like theirs is designed in boardrooms over speakerphone. The story of Boys Like Girls, however, was forged from the very beginning in the damp basements, garages, and VFW halls of the Massachusetts coastline over tattered lyric books, guitars, drums, and a collective dream. A half billion Spotify streams later, it‘s clear this was a fairy tale in its first act, and the world was about to find out.
What followed was the self-titled debut album Boys Like Girls [2006]—nearing Multi-Platinum RIAA certification—and its chart-topping successor Love Drunk [2009]—which bowed at #1 on the Top Rock Albums Chart and Top 10 on the Billboard 200.
