We couldn’t complete our road trip to Buc-ee’s several months ago without filming a mini edition of our tastiest videos, Food Crush sponsored by Pensacola Eggfest. Because we had our very own and BBQ aficionado, Doug Jolly, accompanying us it only made sense to have him sample three of Bucc-ee’s most ordered BBQ sandwiches.
As we know, Buc-ee’s is much more than just a huge gas station. Much, much more. Among the ways Buc-ee’s sets itself apart is through one of its most popular offerings: freshly smoked beef brisket, hand-carved in house and loaded onto the chain’s famous sandwiches.
Doug’s three sandwiches included:
1) Chopped Brisket Sandwich
2) Sliced Brisket Sandwich
3) Three meat sandwich (brisket, sausage and smoked turkey)
Make sure you watch the full review of each in the video above.
When it comes to brisket, there are two popular ways of serving it. Chopped and sliced. Chopped is a more shredded or pulled texture. When it comes to taste, chopped typically has a more intense flavor throughout. The smaller pieces allow the meat to absorb the marinades and seasonings. Sliced brisket is cut into thick, uniform slices. It usually retains more of its natural structure and has a firmer taste. Flavor wise, sliced brisket offers a more straightforward taste as the natural juices of the meat are retained.
Buc-ee’s follows suit with both of these styles, but in true Bucc-ee’s fashion they offer even more including smoked sausages to smoked turkey and everything in between.

If you’re in a rush you can almost always count on finding warm, pre-wrapped brisket sandwiches at Buc-ee’s, but if you’re a dedicated brisket fan, you might want to wait until the theatrics come out to ensure you’re getting the best of the best. Officially called the Texas Round Up, whenever fresh brisket is brought out, the carver calls out, “Fresh hot brisket on the board!” And at this point, you’re free to watch the carving in action and prepare to scoop up freshly assembled sandwiches as soon as they’re made. To no surprise, the carving station has become one of the signature attractions at Buc-ee’s, perhaps because it’s so unusual for the setting.
Going to Buc-ee’s is a treat in itself, but we would be lying if we said the BBQ section isn’t our favorite, and we were delighted to take our taste-testing skills here. Don’t forget to check out Doug’s full video review above and head to Facebook or Instagram page and tell us your favorite BBQ meat from everyone’s favorite gas station chain — Buc-ee’s.
